Description
About Sara J’s
This family owned seafood restaurant has the hook-up for some of the freshest fish on the Grand Strand, some of it straight from the owners’ boat, Done Diggin’. The walls are adorned with some of the crew’s biggest catches, but it’s the fish from the kitchen that keeps South Strand visitors and locals coming back for more.
The Food
Sara J’s serves a wide selection of food for the whole family, including steaks and pastas for landfood lovers. But it’s the fresh seafood that takes center stage on this establishment’s menu. Steamed oysters and shrimp, Soft-Shell Crab and Squid Row Calamari set the stage for starters, along with She-Crab Soup and an array of salads. For the main course, try Sara J’s famous Shrimp and Grits and J’s Lowcountry Boil, a spicy blend of local shrimp, oysters and clams with smoked sausage, red potatoes and corn on the cob. Undecided diners can go for the Surf and Turf special, featuring lobster tail and New York Strip. Cap it off with a slice of Key Lime Pie and a coffee, or enjoy cordials, beer or mixed drinks from the full bar.
The Atmosphere
Sara J’s is all about the sea, both inside and out. The location overlooks a tidal creek with scenic views of the salt marsh, and the walls are lined with photos of fishing expeditions and their trophies, including a 500-pound Blue Marlin and a 400-pound Blue-Fin Tuna among the many sportfishing souvenirs at Sara J’s. The atmosphere is family casual with a good mix of locals and visitors. The patio offers a great view of sunset.
