About Waterfront Seafood Shack
About Waterfront Seafood Shack
There are many “Calabash style” restaurants on the Grand Strand. But to get the real thing, you have to go straight to the source in Calabash, NC. Located right on the Carolina state border, the self-proclaimed “Seafood Capital of the World” offers lots of seafood options, but none quite like the Waterfront Seafood Shack. Operated by the Calabash Fishing Fleet, this outdoor eatery serves seafood straight from its fishing boats to your table.
Waterfront Seafood Shack Food
One way Waterfront Seafood Shack separates itself from the rest – you can catch your own dinner. Guests who take a fishing charter with the Calabash Fishing Fleet and hook a big one (or even a few small ones) can turn their catches over to the kitchen with special instructions on how you want your meal prepared – grilled, steamed or traditional Calabash style (battered and deep fried to a crispy crunch). Of course, you can let Waterfront Seafood Shack do all the work. The kitchen serves all the fresh seafood favorites – shrimp, oysters, crab and a variety of fish – as well as hushpuppies, slaw, fries and all the fixings. Landlubbers can try burgers, chicken wings and hot dogs, but the bulk of the menu came from the docks just a few steps away.
Waterfront Seafood Shack Atmosphere
This unique venue allows guests to dine outdoors under thatched roofs with a close-up view of the Intracoastal Waterway. This isn’t dressed up to make you feel like you are in a seaside fishing village – this is THE seaside fishing village that inspired so many knockoffs. Make a full day of it by taking a fishing charter or dolphin-watching excursion and enjoying a nice meal on the waterfront.

Best Calabash Restaurant
This place is amazing! The food is excellent and the casual on the water atmosphere is so relaxing. You can’t come to Calabash without eating here!
