As one of the newest additions to the Grand Strand, the North Myrtle Beach Parks and Sports Complex recently opened its gates to the public. This brand new state-of-the-art facility was built to draw in sporting organizations throughout the U.S. to host their tournaments here in this beautiful vacation destination. It was also built for local sports teams, colleges and locals of North Myrtle Beach to use year-round. The North Myrtle Beach Parks and Sports Complex features 6 baseball/softball fields, 8 batting cages, and 8 soccer/lacrosse fields. This park isn’t only for sports as it also features a 10 acre Meadow, Amphitheater, 6 picnic shelters, 3 playgrounds, 3 miles of walking/bike trails, a nature preserve and 2 dog parks, one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs.

The Grand Park Athletic Complex is located near popular shopping area, The Market Common. It is also host to plenty of local and national sports tournaments throughout the year. The facilities are used for both youth and adult sports. The Grand Park Athletic Complex has the only roller hockey rink in Myrtle Beach, although it cannot be used in wet or overly humid conditions. The complex also features 7 large multi-purpose fields and 2 youth fields. Each field has synthetic grass that can be used in any weather. The multi-purpose fields can be used for baseball/softball, football, lacrosse, and soccer. Baseball and softball players will appreciate the 6 batting cages on-site during pregame warm-up. There are also plenty of restrooms and concessions to accommodate large groups during tournament time.

While The Ripken Experience isn’t a sports complex for the general public, it belongs on this list of sports complexes simply because it is one of the finest baseball facilities in the country. The Ripken Experience hosts baseball tournaments throughout the year. They have 4 regulation-sized fields and 5 youth-sized fields so multiple games can be happening simultaneously. Each field is made with synthetic turf to mimic what many professional and college teams use. It doesn’t stop at the turf. Each field at The Ripken Experience is modeled after a famous ballpark with signage that explains its historical significance. They also have bullpen mounds, batting cages, infield training and bunting practice areas for pregame warm-up. When it comes to baseball tournaments in Myrtle Beach, not much compares to the experience offered by The Ripken Experience.

The X Gym is located just down the road from the old Freestyle Music Park and offers just about anything you can think of in terms of sports & recreation. While use of the sports complex requires a membership, the X Gym offers daily memberships for vacationers, pick-up games, and those who just want to test out the facilities. The gym area has plenty of cardio and weight training equipment for those who are just looking for a good workout. Behind that area are multi-purpose playing fields for soccer, football, and lacrosse. There is a boarded area with two nets that serves as their hockey rink. The X Gym also has volleyball courts, basketball courts, baseball/softball fields, & batting cages. There are even areas to learn and practice archery and sword fighting!

This facility also requires a membership but they do offer daily memberships if you don’t need a monthly or annual membership. The complex features a full size gym, a youth size gym, weight training & cardio equipment, and a 25 yd. swimming pool. They even have an indoor track so you can still go for a run when it’s raining or just too hot outside. The Pepper Geddings Recreation Center offers classes and sports programs for both youths and adults.
